In so many ways I wish I could be like my three-year old: energetic, giggly, creative and most recently, to have the ability to easily apply positive direction and concepts with the resources around him! That may sound a little intense for a three-year old, but as I watch him watching his NEW favorite show, Blaze and the Monster Machines (bye-bye British Peppa Pig, Hello engineering!), his ability to apply something he sees to his own life is amazing.
Last week was a ‘hot guava’ episode, and if you read up a few weeks back that means lava to him. He finished the episode and went on to build a volcano and erupting hot guava from our couch cushions. I was just watching silently as he took all the concepts and engineering terms from the episode, and applied them to his play and dialogue…with himself.
If only I could master that while reading the Bible! Couldn’t I just as easily read a parable or Proverb and go out and DO IT?! I want to always remember how easily he can apply his new knowledge and do the same with bible studies, church sermons and devotionals.
Now maybe next week we will move on to home improvement educational shows so he can ‘apply’ his new knowledge and start fixing stuff around this house!
James 1:22 New International Version (NIV)
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
