The Night Light for tonight is – GuardRail
In the book Theology Applied by Gabriel Etzel and Ben Gutierrez, they speak of the Word of God as a Guardrail.
Imagine yourself on a windy mountain road at night. There are no lights except for the lights of your car and the moon is obscured by clouds. You must navigate the curves carefully or risk losing control and going over the side of the mountain. However, there have been guardrails placed diligently to keep you from death & destruction.
The Word of God is our protective guardrail. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
Many are not happy to have “the Guardrail” doing all these things in their lives. And they may even try to go down the dangerous side of the mountain even though they know that will cause harm. But they would rather go off the side then allow Our Father God to guide and protect them because that would mean being corrected and following His will and not their own.
May we not be one of the foolish, my precious friend. Tonight as you rest in Him I pray you will give our Merciful Father in Heaven thanks for setting up the guardrails in His Word that keeps you from the path of destruction as long as you are willing stay on His path and follow Him.
Take heed from the words Etzel & Gutierrez write in their book, “The wise person fights the tendency to be repulsed by God’s guardrails. And the wise person actually sees God’s clear guidance and truth contained in the Holy Bible as life—saving, protective spiritual guardrails that align one’s journey in life.”
