Pro-Life Memorial Day Weekend in Philadelphia Next to Gosnell’s House of Horrors by Frank Laffey
by: Frank Laffey
Memorial Day weekend for me usually means the beach and enjoying cookouts. This year, I decided to do something a little different.
I had come across an article that was entitled “How an NFL safety plans to tackle abortion in Philly”. His name is Chris Maragos who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles. His name may not necessarily jump out for football fans who look at the “star” players. However, I look at Chris as well as Benjamin Watson as players who represent what the NFL players should be – meaning that they have high character.
Chris along with Alpha Care of Philadelphia (a pro- life pregnancy help center) hosted a kickball tournament at the old Naval Yard right near the Eagles home at Lincoln Financial Field. The fundraiser set a goal of $25,000 to fuel the medical mobile unit Alpha Care uses to offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and social services to women in need. The mobile unit is a very short distance from the Kermit Gosnell clinic that made worldwide news in a negative way.
Alpha Care also wants to continue its efforts to purchase the Gosnell clinic and I sincerely hope they do. What was once a House of Horrors could very well be a House of Hope. A great event and fun was had by all.
