I was not always a morning person, but I did come to enjoy it. I liked the quiet, the calm and the absence of major traffic issues as I made my way to work.
It’s also a great time to hear the voice of God….if you listen. Notice how many times the writers of Scripture reference the morning and how important it is in setting the pace for the entire day.
Don’t take my word for it, compare these two passages:
2 Samuel 13:14 “In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah”. The same David would also write in Psalm 5:3, “O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch”.
Which of those two mornings would David prefer to remember?
Set the tone for the day….allow God to speak….then listen.
